Jamestown Suffers Volleyball Loss; JV Football Wins Opener

PORTVILLE –Jamestown fell to Portville in a CCAA volleyball match, 25-8, 25-14, 25-13.

Ella Smith had five digs and three kills, and Kylie O’Brien collected five kills and two blocks.

The loss dropped the Red Raiders to 2-1, while the Panthers improve to 3-0.

Portville also won the junior varsity match.

FREENEY SHINES

HAMBURG –The Jamestown junior varsity football team got off to a fine start with a 30-6 victory over Hamburg on Saturday morning.

Darius Freeney led the way for the Red Raiders with 117 yards rushing and a touchdown, a 30-yard TD reception and a blocked punt.

Isaiah Sanchez ran for 60 yards and a TD; and quarterback Jack Carlson completed 5 of 7 passes for 94 yards. Carlson also scored a rushing touchdown. Sean O’Brien collected 12 tackles, Brandon Lobb had 10 tackles and a fumble recovery, and Bradley Bennett blocked a punt.
