Genareo Is Division 1 West POY
The Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West girls basketball all-star teams have been announced with Southwestern’s Sofia Genareo earning Most Valuable Player honors.
Genareo averaged 16.2 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and 2.3 steals per contest, in addition to picking up 16 blocks in 17 games.
The Trojans finished the year at 14-3, claiming a Section VI Class B-2 title with a 63-43 win over Wilson.
Teammate Reece Beaver has earned a spot on the First Team, notching 18.1 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game as a freshman for the Trojans.
Junior Lily Woodis and seniors Alexis Jacobson and Rebecca Henry have all been named to the First Team, after helping Chautauqua Lake to a 12-2 record. Woodis averaged 12.8 points, Jacobson 10.4 points and Henry 9.3 points per game.
Joining them on the First Team is Madison Price of Maple Grove, who averaged 11 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest in her junior season.
