Fredonia, JHS Boys Split; Hillbillies Wrap Up CCAA Division 1 Title With 2-2 Deadlock

Fredonia split a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 boys bowling match with Jamestown, 2-2, at Jamestown Bowling Company to wrap up the league title with a 34-6 record.

Sam Kawski led the Hillbillies with a 200-247-628, Jacob Cerrie added a 204-224-617, Zack Kawski rolled a 201-215-607 and Bryson Kolassa had a 211 game.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to coach Fredonia for 20 years and I can tell you that winning any games against Jamestown, let alone bowling at their center, is always a tough task,” Fredonia coach Tom Battaglia said. “To come down to JBC and get the two games we needed in our last match is something I’ll never forget.”

Fredonia finished with a line score of 946-917-1,038-2,901.

Kyle Christensen led the Red Raiders (29-7) with a 279-623 and Zach Ryberg had a 246-606. High games were turned in by: Riley Piazza (223), Brandon Michael (223) and Colton Cappalino (210).

Jamestown finished with a line score of 1,079-915-995-2,989.

“I certainly wouldn’t take anything away from the Jamestown team. They are a talented group,” Battaglia said. “I expect both of these teams to have a strong showing at the sectional championships next week.”

In the girls match, Fredonia prevailed with a 4-0 victory.

Leading the Hillbillies (20-12) was Gillian Reed, who bowled match highs in her 213 game and 575 series. Ashleigh Hellwig added a 176 game for Fredonia.

Jamestown (4-24) was led by Addison Cappalino with a 190 high game and Abbie Derby who added a 189.

RANDALL PACES BEARS

FREWSBURG — Brendan Randall rolled a 189-171-220-580 to lead Frewsburg to a Division 2 sweep of Forestville in boys action at Frewsburg Lanes on Wednesday.

Erich Thompson added a 186-224-561 and Matthew Thompson had a 195-504 as the Bears (38-2) rolled a line score of 777-801-920-2,498.

Brayden Smith’s 246-574 led the Hornets (11-25) to a line score of 577-522-581-1,680.

The Forestville girls continued their perfect season with a 4-0 sweep.

Lilly VanArsdale’s 211-197-543 led the Hornets (36-0) to a line score of 681-554-639-1,874. Dakota VanArsdale had a 177-452.

Katelyn Bean’s 171-177-494 led the Bears (23-17) to a line score of 538-517-559-1,614.

FALCONER SWEEPS

Nic Houston rolled a 222-515 to lead the Falconer boys past Chautauqua Lake in Division 1 action at Jamestown Bowling Company.

Damen Vincent added a 201-523 for the Golden Falcons (16-19), who finished with a line score of 727-763-784-2,274.

Haylee Falco led Chautauqua Lake to a 438-491-485-1,414.

WILLINK BREAKS 500

CUTTING — Brant Willink’s 181-199-508 led Clymer/Sherman to a 4-0 Division 2 boys sweep of Silver Creek at Cutting Lanes.

Carson Faulkner added a 183-492 and Hunter Babcock rolled a 206 game for Clymer/Sherman, which finished with a line score of 826-703-755-2,284.

Nate Barlette-Dye’s 190-170-171-539 led the Black Knights to a 682-696-734-2,112. Kyle Mullen added a 180 game.

In the girls match, Adelie Jackson’s 412 led Clymer/Sherman to a 3-1 victory.

The hosts finished with a line score of 391-502-510-1,403.

Emily Barlette-Dye rolled a 164-445 for the Black Knights, who finished with a 452-431-503-1,386.

GOWANDA BOYS SWEEP

ALLEGANY — Gowanda’s boys swept Allegany-Limestone, 4-0, in Division 3 action to close their season with a 17-7 record.

High games were turned in by: Johnny Smuda (201), David Goodemote (190), Danny Marrocco (190) and Drew Shull (188). The Panthers finished with a team total of 2,818.

Allegany-Limestone won the girls match, 4-0.

Cam Nagel led Gowanda (12-12) with a 166 and season-high 429. Paige Szalay had a 151 game and Cami Clark had a season-high 144 en route to a 364 set. Deme Spire added a 177 game.

TUESDAY ACTION

CUTTING — Tabitha Griffin’s 188-160-493 led the Clymer/Sherman girls to a 4-0 Division 2 sweep of Frewsburg on Tuesday.

Adelie Jackson added a 164 game for the hosts, who finished with a line score of 544-584-516-1,644.

Katelyn Bean led the Bears with a 502-539-507-1,548.

Matthew Thompson led the Frewsburg boys with a 171-184-205 as they beat Clymer/Sherman, 3-1.

The Bears finished with a line score of 781-801-914-2,496. Brendan Randall had a 171-190-188-549, Erich Thompson a 190-177-175-542 and Collin Kehril a 163-209-527.

Carson Faulkner’s 209-169-529 led Clymer/Sherman’s 714-808-691-2,213. Hunter Babcock added a 162-469.

MONDAY ACTION

FREDONIA — Jacob Cerrie’s 258-202-634 led Fredonia to a 3-1 Division 1 victory over Falconer on Monday at Lucky Lanes.

Bryson Kolassa added a 200-222-606 for the Hillbillies (28-4), who finished with a line score of 994-950-850-2,744.

Falconer (13-19) rolled a 755-845-881-2,481.

Emma Patterson’s 237-548 led the Fredonia girls to a 3-1 victory with a line score of 845-777-712-2,334.

Savannah Salim added a 182-505 while high games were turned in by: Gillian Reed (171), Erin Schrantz (162) and Julianna Glowniak (174). Senior Eva Wong rolled her personal bests with a 131 game and a 343 series in her final home match.

Hannah Cross led the Golden Falcons (20-8) with a 189-511, Amelia Sprague had a 173 and 172, and Lucinda Patterson had a 160. Falconer finished with a 692-706-814-2,212.
