Frewsburg Boys, Girls Post Hoops Victories

SINCLAIRVILLE — Traden Gray had a career night for Frewsburg.

In a number of areas.

The senior forward had 27 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocked shots — all career highs — as the Bears beat Cassadaga Valley, 78-60, in Division 2 West action.

John Brito added 28 points while Zack Carr had seven assists and four steals for Frewsburg (4-1, 4-1).

The Bears led 20-12 after the first quarter and 43-29 at halftime before a fairly evenly played second half.

“I thought it was a pretty well-played game on the offensive end,” Frewsburg head coach Rob Collver said.

Connor Austin led the Cougars (2-9, 2-7) with 17 points, 15 rebounds and six assists; Braden LeBaron had 14 points; and Wyatt Harrington had 13 points to go along with five steals.

MARSH GETS HOT

SOUTH DAYTON — Lucas Marsh had 19 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead Ellicottville to a 79-32 Division 2 East win over Pine Valley.

Wyatt Chudy added 15 points and 11 rebounds; Leif Jimerson had 13 points, five assists and four steals; Clayton Rowland had seven rebounds; and Logan Grinols had four assists and four steals for the Eagles (7-1, 5-0).

Kordell Oakes led the Panthers (2-4, 1-4) with 12 points to go along with three rebounds; Wayne Libby had 10 points; and Bryce Sercu had three assists.

SPOSATO HAS HUGE GAME

WESTFIELD — Elise Sposato’s career night helped Frewsburg down Westfield/Brocton, 72-33, in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West girls basketball game Wednesday.

The junior guard poured in 25 points, including 15 in the second quarter, when the Bears (1-2) went on a 27-9 run.

“The press got us going,” Frewsburg coach Jeff Collver said, “and Elise had three of 3-pointers in that quarter.”

Mikayla Jones added 14 points, Alex Hultberg had 11 and Sposato made 10 steals. Tyra Clark and Lizzy Schrecengost had 11 and eight rebounds, respectively.

Haleigh Dellow had 12 points and seven rebounds to lead the Wolverines (0-4, 0-4).

RAIDERS DOWN FRONTIER

HAMBURG — Lauren Tracy scored 15 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and had three assists and two steals to lead Jamestown to a 37-32 victory over Frontier in an Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 game.

Kylie O’Brien hauled down 14 rebounds and Saydee Johnson grabbed 10 for the Red Raiders (2-4, 2-3), who outscored the Falcons, 13-6, in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. Mickia Freeney had 7 points and Tracy added 4 during that decisive period.

Mya Brown led Frontier with 9 points and Paris Izzo chipped in with 8.
