Beaver Leads SW Past Panama

Reece Beaver had 20 points, four assists and three steals as Southwestern beat Panama, 54-27, in nonleague girls basketball Saturday afternoon.

The Trojans (7-2, 6-1 CCAA D1 West) shut out the Panthers (7-2, 6-0 CCAA D2 West), 12-0, in the first quarter.

Sofia Genareo had 15 points, five rebounds and two steals while Kira Ricker added 11 points for the hosts.

Mandy Brink led Panama with 14 points — all coming in the middle two quarters.

SILVER CREEK — Three players scored in double figures for Silver Creek/Forestville in a 50-33 nonleague win over North Collins.

Jade Bouvier led the Black Knights (5-5, 1-4 CCAA D1 East) with 15 points and five rebounds while Carly Barrett added 12 points. Malani Eldridge chipped in 10 points and five assists.

Makenna Williams and Michaela Rice led the Eagles (2-6, 1-4 CCAA D2 East) with 10 points apiece.

The hosts led 13-4 after the first quarter and 29-15 at halftime.

TO VICTORY

SINCLAIRVILLE — Cassadaga Valley rallied from a 35-20 halftime deficit to beat Westfield/Brocton, 53-46, in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West action.

Kaylee Pattyson led the Cougars (2-7, 1-5) with 20 points, 19 rebounds, six blocked shots, two assists and two steals. Sarah Meder added 19 points, seven rebounds and six steals while Brielle LeBaron had six steals, five assists and five rebounds.

Juli Smith led Westfield/Brocton with 17 points, including four 3-pointers. Makartnee Mortimer and Tanleigh Bestine each grabbed six rebounds.

CLYMER — Mikayla Jones scored 20 of her game-high 22 points in the second half as Frewsburg pulled away from Clymer for a 60-40 Division 2 West win.

The teams were tied 18-all at halftime before the Bears (4-2, 4-2) outscored the Pirates, 42-22, over the final 16 minutes.

Elise Sposato added 17 points and eighth-grader Teghan Trocki had a career-high 10 points for Frewsburg.

“They came out and put a lot of pressure on us,” Clymer coach Scott Neckers said of the start of the third quarter. “Sposato had a couple of quick buckets and Jones was 3 of 4 on 3-pointers in the third quarter.”

Lizzie Schrecengost grabbed 11 rebounds; Tyra Clark had eight rebounds; and Sposato picked up seven steals and seven assists to go along with six rebounds.

Sam Nyweide and Emma Wiggers had 10 points apiece to lead the Pirates (2-5, 2-4). Karlen Honey grabbed 11 rebounds and Mikala Einink had six assists.
