Second-Quarter Surge Sends Fredonia Past Chautauqua Lake
FREDONIA — Fredonia improved to 4-1 on the season Saturday, highlighted by a 34-point second quarter, en route a 73-52 nonleague boys basketball victory over Chautauqua Lake.
Tyler Putney and Michael Berg each had 13 points in the period that transformed a 10-all tie into a 44-23 advantage for the Hillbillies at the break.
Putney led four players in double figures with 24 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and two steals; Berg had 15 points and six rebounds; Troy Lemiszko chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds; and Ethan Fry added 10 points and five rebounds.
Luke Waters paced the Thunderbirds (3-2) with 21 points, eight rebounds and five steals.
The Hillbillies made 23 free throws while Chautauqua Lake made just four.
