The Sarasota (Fla.) Suncoast Academy Middle School has dedicated one of its athletic fields in memory of Bemus Point native Kurt Cummings. The ceremony, which included speeches by staff and students, was held to remember Cummings, who passed away last December. A beloved teacher and coach at the school, Cummings was a 1995 Maple Grove High School graduate who led the Red Dragons to a New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class D basketball championship his senior year.
