MAYVILLE — Chautauqua Lake nearly posted a come-from-behind victory, but its rally came up just short in a 46-44 Division 1 West loss to Olean.

The Huskies (2-1, 2-0) were led by Nora Sweitzer with 16 points and Anayah Parks-Barker with 10.

Alexis Jacobson paced the Thunderbirds (3-1, 3-1) with 13 points, six steals and six assists; Rebecca Henry added 9 points and 10 rebounds; and Lily Woodis chipped in five assists and seven rebounds.

Olean led 31-16 at halftime, but Chautauqua Lake had a chance to tie the game in the fourth quarter, but missed a layup with seconds remaining.

“We clawed our way back into it,” Thunderbirds coach Bill Persons said. “Having a chance to win is all I can ask of my kids. I can’t take anything away from them.”

Madison Price led the winners with 16 points and five blocks while Courtney Martin added 14 points and 11 rebounds. Taylor Bower had 4 points and five steals while Erin Mansfield added five steals.

Gianna DeRose led the Gators with 16 points.

PORTVILLE — Portville snuck by Gowanda with a 58-56 final, thanks to a 27-point effort from Mallory Welty that included eight 3-pointers.

Welty would add six rebounds and four assists, while Mia Hlasnick had 8 points and 10 assists.

Mia Welty chipped in four assists and 6 points, Reggie Tkacik had 13 rebounds and Lilly Bentley eight rebounds and 15 points in the win.

Miya Scanlan had 12 points and Aaliyah Stevens had 13 points for Gowanda.

SALAMANCA — Courtnee Peterson did a little bit of everything and that helped Falconer to a 48-20 victory over Salamanca.

In addition to scoring 9 points, she also had seven rebounds, 10 steals and one block. Tess Spangenburg chipped in with 13 points and Rachael Harper collected 8 points and six rebounds. The win raised the Golden Falcons’ record to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the league.

Jaeden Hubbard, Jillian Rea and Bella Wolfe had eight, seven and seven rebounds respectively for Salamanca (0-4, 0-2). Marla Warrior chipped in with four steals.

SINCLAIRVILLE — Kaylee Pattyson had a game to remember Thursday night, pouring in 32 points and grabbing 28 rebounds to send Cassadaga Valley to a 55-46 victory over Dunkirk to highlight area girls basketball action.

Sarah Meder added 12 points, 16 rebounds and four assists; and Aliyah Hopkins chipped in 4 points and eight rebounds.

The Cougars put the game away in the third quarter when they outscored the Marauders, 17-6.

Molly Dicara paced Dunkirk with 20 points and four rebounds; Tachiana Garcia added 17 points and three steals; and Octavia Porter collected 4 points and 8 rebounds.

WESTFIELD — Clymer (1-1, 1-0) was a 47-37 winner over Westfield (0-2, 0-2) in CCAA Division 2 West play thanks to a balanced scoring attack that included 10 points from Alexis Neckers, 9 from Mikala Einink and 7 from Karlen Honey.

Honey also grabbed 15 rebounds, while Einink had eight steals and five assists.
