Luce, Wigren Lead Southwestern Boys, Girls In Frewsburg

Southwestern’s Ethan Luce, above, was the top boys runner and Frewsburg’s Acacia Barber, second, was the top girls runner during Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association cross country action Tuesday at Robert H. Jackson Elementary School in Frewsburg. Gowanda’s Cole Herman, third, was the Panthers’ top boys finisher while his teammate, Kayla Forthman, fourth, was the Panthers’ top girls finisher. FREWSBURG — Southwestern claimed a pair of Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association cross country wins at Robert H. Jackson Elementary School, finishing with 16 points in the boys race behind Ethan Luce’s winning time of 17:23, just seconds ahead of teammate Nate Lewis.

Frewsburg took second with 53 points, Gowanda third with 69 and Dunkirk fourth with 110. Toby Gifford took fifth for the Bears in 18:03.

Southwestern won the girls race with 26 points, ahead of Gowanda with 51.

Frewsburg’s Acacia Barber took first for the girls in 19:33, ahead of teammate Teghan Trocki, while Gabrielle Wigren led the Trojans in third with a 22:09.

LEMAY LEAD AGAIN

FREDONIA — Joey Pillittieri and Marie Lemay bested the field again as Falconer/Cassadaga Valley won race at Fredonia High School.

Pillittieri finished in 18:03.6 to lead the Golden Cougars to a 17-point total in the boys race. Fredonia was second with 42 points, led by fourth-place Adam Lesch.

On the girls side, Lemay finished in 21:47.4 to lead the Golden Cougars to 24 points. The Hillbillies finished with 32 points, led by second-place Ashlyn Ambrose.

OLEAN PAIR IN FRONT

OLEAN — Olean’s Nya Martinelli won the girls race and the Huskies’ Jack DeRose won the boys race during action at Forness Park.

Cattaraugus-Little Valley’s boys were the only complete team in the race and won with 15 points.

DeRose won in 18:19 and second-place John Visnesky was the Timberwolves’ top finisher in the boys race.

Martinelli led the girls in 22:00 and third-place Remi Eisensmith was the top Cattaraugus-Little Valley finisher in 26:32.

GATORS DOMINATE BOTH RACES

FRANKLINVILLE — Allegany-Limestone dominated again, winning the boys race with 15 points and the girls race with 22 points.

Franklinville/Ellicottville was second in the boys race with 56 points and third in the girls race with 62 points. Randolph was second in the girls race with 50 points and third in the boys race with 70 points.

The Gators’ Ryan Wisniewski won the boys race in 16:35 while his teammate Angelin Napoleon was the top girls finisher in 19:27.

Randolph’s top girls finisher was second-place Sydney Smith and its top boys finisher was sixth-place Talon Rowland. Franklinville/Ellicottville’s top girls finisher was fifth-place Tarryn Herman and its top boys finisher was eighth-place Tavi Riling.

SILVER CREEK — Jamestown’s Drew Carlson toured the 2.8-mile course in 15:31, aiding the Red Raiders to a boys win with 26 points, just ahead of Clymer/Sherman/Panama (30) and Silver Creek/Forestville (83).

John Swabik took second for the Wolfpack in 15:44.

Clymer/Sherman/Panama won the girls rae with 25 points, thanks to a first-place finish by Tayden Persons in 19:12, and a second-place time of 19:35 from Eve Johnson.

Jamestown finished with76 points and Silver Creek/Forestville 33.
