FREWSBURG — Area girls soccer teams are quickly learning they can’t give Frewsburg free kicks.

Silver Creek became the latest victim Friday.

Alex Hultberg scored three goals and Tyra Clark added two as the Bears struck five times in the second half en route to a 6-1 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Central Division victory.

The Black Knights (0-2, 0-2) held Frewsburg (3-0, 2-0) at bay for much of the first half, but with 7:39 remaining Raena Bird drew a foul and Hultberg capitalized with her first goal off a free kick in the game for a 1-0 lead.

After halftime, the Bears made it 2-0 with 32:35 remaining as Nora Edwards played a short corner kick to Hultberg, who dribbled to the top of the 18-yard box and let loose another perfect shot. Just over a minute later, Hultberg sent a corner kick of her own into the 18-yard box and Tyra Clark headed the ball into the net for a 3-0 lead.

Frewsburg’s Alexandra Hultberg shields Silver Creek’s Rachael Beadle from the ball as she awaits a pass during Friday’s game in Frewsburg.

Silver Creek got on the scoreboard with 28:11 remaining as Alivia Penman was tripped up on a breakaway and Carly Barrett capitalized with a deep free kick of her own to make it 3-1.

Frewsburg capitalized on a Black Knights’ miscue with 22:32 remaining. The goalkeeper stepped on the 18-yard line while still holding the ball in her hands to give the Bears a free kick. Clark took advantage with her second goal of the game to make it 4-1. Hultberg finished her hat trick with 12:49 remaining before a Rachael Kerhli free kick found the foot of Ava Hultberg for the final goal of the game.

Alina Beadle and Tessa Karcz combined for 22 saves in net for Silver Creek while Cadence Rodgers made six saves for Frewsburg.
