A Falconer resident has been awarded the Dan Feather Memorial Scholarship. Bryce Baglia, an 18-year-old freshman at the Citadel Military College in South Carolina, received the $325 scholarship from the Chautauqua Striders in honor of Dan Feather who co-founded the Striders in 1979 and also served as a Jamestown police officer for 18 years. Feather was known for his commitment to personal fitness and he helped shape the athletic programming at Striders while serving as a positive role model to youth in the community. Baglia, who has an Army ROTC contract at the Citadel, is pursuing a degree in intelligence and security and participates on the cross country team. While at Falconer High School, Bryce participated in track, cross country, football and wrestling. He also participated in many local races, including the Dan Feather 5K and St. Pat’s Dash, which are hosted by Striders each year.
