Krajewski Captures WNYPGA Section Championship
Ron Krajewski, PGA director of instruction at Glen Oak Golf Club, won the 36-hole Western New York PGA Section Championship on the fourth playoff hole at Cobblestone Creek Country Club earlier this week.
That was enough to defeat Neil Reidy, PGA host professional. Reidy fired a 4-under 68 in the first round and Krajewski was 1-under par on the second round. Reidy birdied the 18th hole of the second round to get to a playoff. Both finished with a 144. Jeff Urzetta, PGA director of instruction at Oak Hill CC, was third with 149. All three will advance to the 54th PGA Professional Championship April 25-28, 2021 at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida to attempt to qualify for the 2021 PGA Championship.
Rob Horak, PGA teaching professional at Midvale CC, tied for fourth and is first-alternate; Kirk Stauffer, PGA director of Golf at Chautauqua Golf Club, tied Horak for fourth and is second alternate; and Michael O’Connor was sixth and third alternate.
Pat Damore of Lakewood Golf Center tied for 11th; Jack Widger of Elkdale CC tied for 24th; Ryan Swanson of Pinehurst GC tied for 31st; and Mike Touhey of Moon Brook CC finished 36th.
