Men’s Senior Baseball

The Pro-Bats Yankees (3-0) used a 15-hit attack to down the Cassadaga Marlins (0-1), 12-5.

Joe Polichetti led the Yankees’ charge with three hits, including a double, while Matt Cole, Bob Krzyzanowicz, Justyn Vara and Allan Carmello each had two hits. One of Vara’s hits was a double while Brent Carmello and Matt Eaker each scored three times. Men’s Senior Baseball League Hall of Famer Charlie Laduca was the winning pitcher for the Yankees in relief of Vara. Allan Carmello and Cole also threw in relief. The quartet walked two and struck out 12.

The Marlins got solo home runs from Eric Fermier and Doug Clarke while Dylan Caldwell and Jaquan Watts each had two hits with a doube. Cheyenne Morano drove in two runs for the Marlins. Ryan Bonnas, Caldwell and Kevin Rose all threw for the Marlins combining for eight walks and six strikeouts.

The defending champion Kosciuszko Phillies (3-1) beat the Pro-Bats Yankees, 15-9, in a rematch of last year’s championships game thanks in part to seven errors.

Bryant Watts had two hits, including a home run, and scored twice; Marquel Ruiz had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs; Mark Zinni had two hits, scored twice and walked twice; and Steve Krystofiak also had two hits with an RBI for the Phillies. Eric Vara doubled and scored twice while Aaron Shaw and Ben Woods also scored two runs apiece. Richard Allen was the winning pitcher in relief of Vara while Watts closed the game out. The trio walked and struck out five batters apiece.

The Yankees were led at the plate by Robert Calph Jr. with a home run and two RBIs; Weston Ley with two runs scored; Brent Carmello and Allan Carmello with two hits apiece; and Matt Eaker with two RBIs. Eaker was the tough-luck loser on the mound for the Yankees, yielding only three earned runs. Dennis Gawronski and Allan Carmello mopped up in relief.
