Dani Haskell Named CCAA Division 1 East Player Of The Year

Dani Haskell of Franklinville has been named the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 East Player of the Year.

The senior guard averaged 31.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.7 steals and 4.9 assists per game for the Panthers, who lost to Holland in the Section VI Class-2 championship game.

Joining Haskell on the first team are senior teammate Abby McCoy; Gowanda junior Miya Scanlan; senior Karly Welty and sophomore Mallory Welty, both of Portville; Randolph junior Sydney Hvizdzak; and Silver Creek sophomore Abby Rice.

McCoy averaged 16 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 4.2 assists; Karly Welty averaged 17.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 3.7 assists; Mallory Welty averaged 12. 3points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 3.9 assists; Hvizdzak averaged 23 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 4.0 assists; and Rice averaged 20 points. 7.9 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 5.3 assists.

The second-team choices are senior Sarah Disbro and sophomore Ava Fenton, both of Falconer; senior Abby Burrell of Franklinville; senior Shayla Wilhelm of Portville; freshman Kyra Pence of Randolph; and senior Kierra Brennan of Silver Creek.

Honorable-mention selections are Lilly Bentley of Portville; Peyton Morrison and Tyra Clark of Randolph; Grace Lundmark and Rachael Harper of Falconer; Gabby Milligan of Franklinville; Nicole Whalen of Gowanda; and Jade Bouvier of Silver Creek.

Sportsmanship honorees are Rachael Harper of Falconer; Megan Jackson of Franklinville; Nicole Whalen of Gowanda; Mallory Welty of Portville; Allison Ames of Randolph; and Abby Rice of Silver Creek.

Silver Creek is the team sportsmanship recipient, while Allan Dunlap of Franklinville and Inga Welty of Portville are the co-coaches of the year.
