The Jamestown Lakers 14U Bantams defeated the Batavia Ramparts, 4-2, last weekend at Northwest Arena to qualify for the New York State Amateur Hockey Association state tournament.

Batavia jumped out to an early lead within the first two minutes when Gino Falleti scored from Jameson Motyka.

It was all Lakers from there. Lakers forward Jameson Walsh received a pass from Mason Lobb and buried it in the net to tie the game with 2:06 remaining in the first.

The deadlock didn’t last long as Henry Brairton scored from Lucas Lisciandro less than a minute into the second period. Lakers defenseman Spencer Bell added another goal with an assist from Ritter Coombs.

Going into the third period with a two-goal lead, the Lakers shutdown the Ramparts. Coombs added an unassisted goal to put the game away with 2:30 remaining.

Batavia scored with under two minutes left on an unassisted goal from Alex Johnson, but it was too little too late for the Ramparts.

The winning goalie for the Lakers was Collin Norlander with a 4-2 win.

The Lakers, 23-4-2 overall, finished on top of the Western New York Amateur Hockey League Bantam Major Blue Division with a 18-1-1 record.

Coombs leads the team in points with 21 goals and 27 assists. Griffin Bogdanowicz and Lisciandro rounded out the top-three point leaders with 33 apiece. The team combined for 125 goals (27 power play, nine short handed).

Goaltender Collin Norlander faced 607 shots on the season and only allowed 59 goals for a .903 save percentage.

The team will now begin to prepare for the NYSAHA Tier III Tournament, which will take place March 20-22 in Amherst.
