Rebels Lose 3-2 At Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — The Jamestown Rebels rallied from a 1-0 first-period deficit to take a second-period lead, but ultimately lost to the Johnstown Tomahawks, 3-2, in North American Hockey League East Division action Friday at 1st Summit Arena at Cambria County War Memorial.

Johnstown (29-13-2-2) opened the scoring at 3:47 of the first period when Pavel Kharin scored his eighth of the season from Spencer DenBeste and Jack Therrien.

In the second period, Jamestown (18-26-1-2) tied the game at the 6:35 mark as Jordan Cormier scored his eighth of the season from Marshall Walker and Tyler German. The Rebels took a 2-1 lead at the 11:05 mark when Kasyn Kruse scored his fourth of the season from Jack Moore and Noah Finstrom.

The Tomahawks tied the game at 4:53 of the third period when Christian Gorscak scored his 21st on the power play from Max Kouznetsov and Tristan Poissant. Johnstown’s Bennett Stockdale scored the winner with 5:03 remaining from Poissant.

Noah West made 16 saves in net for Jamestown while David Tomeo stopped 24 shots for Johnstown.

The same two teams play again at 7 p.m. tonight in Johnstown.
