The Jamestown Raiders beat Olean, 8-0, on Friday night at Northwest Arena to clinch a two-game sweep of the Eagles in Western New York High School Club Hockey League playoff action.

The first-round victory does two things for the Raiders: first in secures them a spot in the New York State High School Club Hockey Varsity state playoffs, which will be hosted by Jamestown at Northwest Arena on Feb. 28-29; also Jamestown will play in “Super Sunday,” on Monday, Feb. 24 at First Niagara Center in Buffalo.

On Friday, Lucian Talbett had a natural hat trick for the Raiders in the second period, scoring unassisted at 11:49 and 7:47 before tallying from Cooper Spielman at 4:05.

Brendan Hirliman opened the scoring at 16:15 of the second period from Jack Brinkley and Evan Christensen closed the second-period scoring from Alex MacCallum with less than four minutes to play.

Jamestown added three more in the third period as Jed Hirliman scored from Declan Brown; Jed Hirliman tallied from Cooper Bergman; and Josh Brown scored unassisted.

Luke Tota opened the scoring from Tristan Spillane and Michael Gerace. Devin Wolfe made it 2-0 from Spielman and Chase Jones before Brinkley made it 3-0 from Jackob Guimond and MacCallum.

In the second period, Gerace scored from Bergman and Wolfe scored from Brown.
