Jackals Sweep TBL Weekend In Florida

SARASOTA, Fla. — Seven of nine players who got into the game scored in double figures as the Jamestown Jackals completed a weekend sweep in Florida with a 96-93 win over the Gulf Coast Lions on Sunday at Booker High School in The Basketball League.

Bernard Edwards led the Jackals (4-2) with 19 points while Drew Cushingberry had 15 points and six rebounds. Demontez Loman had 13 points and 11 rebounds; Raheem Singleton had 13 points and five rebounds; Julian Powel had 10 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots; Tyrone Marshall Jr. had 10 points and seven rebounds; and Aaron Shepard had 10 points and six rebounds.

Gulf Coast led 33-32 after the first quarter before Jamestown took a 51-48 lead into halftime. The Lions again led, 73-72, after the third quarter, in a game that featured 11 ties and 19 lead changes.

Johnny Ocasio led Gulf Coast with 31 points while Joshua Keyes had 21 points and 13 rebounds. Tavares Sledge added 14 points and 13 rebounds while Brenton Scott had 13 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

EDWARDS, HART LEAD SATURDAY

TAMPA, Fla. — Behind 33 points from Bernard Edwards and 26 from Matthew Hart, Jamestown knocked off Tampa Bay, 132-124, in action from The Basketball League on Saturday.

The Jackals, who improved to 3-2 on the season, led 70-48 at halftime, and hung on for the victory. Also scoring in double figures for Jamestown were Demontez Loman with 16 points, Raheem Singleton with 13, and Drew Cushingberry and Aaron Shepard with 10 apiece.

Loman also grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out eight assists.

TaMarrick Boans led the Titans with 28 points and Aluk Adub had 25. Bassel Harfouch turned in a fine all-around game, finishing with 16 points, 14 assists and 13 rebounds.
