Falconer/CV Captures Class C Tourney Crown

FALCONER — Falconer/Cassadaga Valley had little trouble claiming the Section VI Class C wrestling tournament crown on Saturday.

Aided by individual titles from Hudson Johnson at 182 pounds and Collin Beichner at 220, the Golden Falcons finished with 288 points, 91 more than second-place Newfane. Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama was third (176.5), followed by Southwestern (160), Franklinville/Cuba-Rushford (121), Portville (112), Maple Grove (107.5), Eden (105.5), Barker/Royalton-Hartland (76), Akron (61), Randolph (53.5), Frewsburg (49), Medina (49), Salamanca (33), Wilson (33), Gowanda (31) and Cattaraugus-Little Valley (2).

Johnson claimed victory in the final with a 15-second fall of Maple Grove’s Kyle Trim, while Beichner won by decision over Zechariah Padd, also of Maple Grove.

Other area wrestlers with first-place finishes were Martin Ohlsson of Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama) at 99 pounds; Hunter Harris of Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama at 120; Garrett Swan of Southwestern at 126; Luke Tomlinson of Maple Grove at 132; Brendon Ramsey of Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama at 138); and Dontae Hoose of Southwestern at 195.

Tomlinson’s win was via pin.

Andrew Lucinski of Newfane, wrestling at 106 pounds, was named the tournament’s outstanding wrestler.
