Backyard Curling

Following are the results from Week 4 of the Northwest Arena Winter Backyard Curling Leagues, sponsored by Dot’s Gift Boutique, results for the Monday Night is as follows:

5:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

TRCurlers came out strong with two close-call wins against Sweeping With Your Wife (45-44) and Curling Me Softly (43-40), thanks to the clutch performances of Beth Jermain and Tod Szczech. Merrill Lynch Curls meant business by defeating Shoeless Joe’s Pub (48-33) and Curling Me Softly (53-50) with top-notch showings from Darla Nelson and Sadie Stuart. Legion of Broom was able to keep its No. 1 spot in the standings with a victory against The Cremators (49-41) while Cecil Miller brought his “A” game this week. Shoeless Joe’s Pub had a solid night while going 1-1, downing Legion of Broom (55-49), highlighted by a stellar outing by Gannon Jackson. The Cremators, led by Jim Cowan, walked away as the victors in a tight game versus the Scuba Crew (50-49). Gaining its second win on the season was Sweeping With Your Wife against the Scuba Crew (37-33) with the help of Sal Buonaiuto’s efforts.

6:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

Slyde & the Family Stone defeated Pratt Street Pushers (36-26) and On the Rocks (49-27) with Keith Swanson and Terri Rettburg leading the way. Also having a dominating night was the Chadakoin Curling Crew, obtaining two victories against On the Rocks (36-27) and the Fruit of the Brooms (45-44) with David Winters leading the way. Mary’s Smooth Red Curlers were able to improve to 7-1 overall, thanks to its win over the Pratt Street Pushers (47-25) with Sammy Lisciandro showing the way. The Snow Ballers, led by Miguel Colon, posted a dominant win over the Ice Holer’s (55-36). Having a solid night by going 1-1 were the Ice Holers as they defeated Mary’s Smooth Red Curlers (36-21) led by Marleen Lucas. The Fruit of the Brooms was able to secure a win by knocking off the Snow Ballers (40-36) as Ed Cramer was the top curler.

5:15 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Pepsi Zero’s had a great performance with wins against Sarah and the Broomsman (47-32) and Mountain Dew Zero’s (41-35) thanks to the outstanding performances from Kellie Warner and Fred Pellerito. Stonehenge came to play by defeating Game of Stones (60-46) and Sweeping With the Enemy (43-39) with a MVC showing from Reid Van Every. League points leader Frozen Assets (366) posted wins against Mountain Dew Zero’s (53-34) and Game of Stones (39-38) led by Bethany Dahlberg and Shawn Himes. Cliff and the Baby Boomers were able to pull off a huge victory against Sweeping With the Enemy (59-33) due to Mark Eicher’s fine performance. Sarah and the Broomsman went 1-1 with a win against Cliff and The Baby Boomers with Sarah Carlson paving the road to victory.

6:15 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

The Brush Offs, led by Justin Swanson, claimed the No. 1 spot in the standings with victories against Knuckle Draggers (25-15) and All Curled Up (47-43). Trojan Curlers downed the Stone Cold Curlers (41-33) and Knuckle Draggers (29-21) with a great team effort in the first match and a clutch performance by Mike Barber in the second. Sky Rocketers had a solid night with a win over The Garage (46-42), sparked by Jason Britt. The Garage went 1-1 with a tight win over Stone Cold Curlers (39-38). Rock Blockers were able to secure victory over the Sky Rocketeers (34-31) with a top-notch performance from Claire Tomassini. All Curled Up edged Rock Blockers (34-33) as Jenn Swanson led the way.

7:15 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Killer BBB’z had a dominant performance and find itself on top of the standings following wins against Beebe’s Broomers (28-23) and Rollman’s Rockers (36-25) with Tom Benson carrying his team to both wins. Rolling Rocks also had a fine effort with an all-around team effort win against Dot’s Gift Boutique (37-35) and a standout showing from Rob White to lead the Rolling Rocks in a win over Short & Curly (37-27). Short & Curly went 1-1 with a win over Peterson’s Candies/Neil’s Propane (33-31) with John Fisk leading the way. Peterson’s knocked off Rollman’s Rocker (40-25) to notch a win as Jeremy Gerber was the top curler. Dot’s Gift Boutique downed Curl Power (38-23), with Rex McCray leading the way. Curl Power rebounded in its second game, downing Beebe’s Broomers (23-20), as newcomer Lyla Gazigeua found her stride and played well in the victory.
