Wildcats Hold Off Randolph On Road

Sands, Gratto Show Way In 50-45 Victory

RANDOLPH –Carrie Sands scored 18 points and dished out four assists, and MacKenzie Gratto added 12 points and 18 rebounds to spark Sherman to a 50-45 nonleague girls basketball victory over Randolph on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats (8-2) led, 24-16, at halftime and held on for the win. Maggie Myers added 9 points and four assists.

The Cardinals (5-7), who outscored the visitors, 29-26, after intermission, were led by Sydney Hvizdak with 16 points, five steals and four assists. Allison Ames chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds and two steals, while Tyra Clark collected 4 points, seven rebounds, two steals, a block and an assist.

WOODIS TIES MARK

MAYVILLE — Lily Woodis drained a career-high six 3-pointers to tie both Kate Fardink and Taylor Phelps for the school-record in Chautauqua Lake’s 49-29 nonleague victory over Cassadaga Valley.

“It was a really good first half for us,” Thunderbirds head coach Bill Persons said after the victory. “Woodis took it away in the first half and her and (Alexis) Jacobson put together a blitz in the first quarter to set the tone early.”

Woodis finished with a team-high 22 points and was aided by Jacobson, who finished with 7 points, four assists and four steals. Meredez Obert led the Thunderbirds with nine rebounds and Lauren Alfa chipped in four assists.

The Cougars were led by Mckenzie Haskins, who scored a team-high 8 points, and Kaylee Pattyson grabbed 14 rebounds in the loss while also blocking three shots.

BEEHLER SHINES

BUFFALO — Jessica Beehler continued to put up up monster numbers Tuesday night, leading Dunkirk to a 98-61 nonleague basketball victory over Nichols.

Beehler scored 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out 11 assists and had seven steals as the Marauders raised their record to 11-1 heading into today’s nonleague game at home against Niagara Wheatfield.

Kymie Nance added 24 points and 11 rebounds, Nadara Odell had 22 points and Olivia Smith had 20 points, including six 3-pointers. Amari Carter contributed 9 points and 11 boards.

Dunkirk put the game away early, erupting for 55 point by halftime.

Quinn Benchley led Nichols with 21 points and Allison McCluskey chipped in 10.

WIGGERS SHOWS WAY FOR CLYMER

CLYMER — Emma Wiggers scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Clymer past Ellicottville, 53-42, in a nonleague game.

Karlen Honey chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Pirates (7-5), and Mikala Einink contributed 7 points, nine rebounds, five steals and five assists.

Ellicottville (5-7) was led by Emilee Ruiz with 19 points and five steals; Allison Rowland with 10 points and seven rebounds; and Brooke Eddy with seven boards.
