High School Bowling Challenge Is Feb. 2 At Lucky Lanes

FREDONIA — The 10th annual High School Bowling Challenge will take place on Sunday, Feb. 2 at noon at Lucky Lanes in Fredonia.

The challenge is open only to bowlers that are members of a high school bowling team. There will be an entry fee of $12.

All bowlers will bowl three games with handicap to achieve a qualifying score. After qualifying, the top six bowlers with handicap in each division will advance to the semifinals. All six bowlers in the semifinals bowl one game with handicap to cut to the top three. There will be no carryover from qualifying. The high bowler will then be seeded into the final game and second and third will bowl a one-game head-to-head match with handicap. The winner will go on to face the top bowler from the semifinals for the title.

There will be separate divisions for boys and girls and the handicap used will be 90 percent of 200. Bowlers are responsible to know their average.

A special oil pattern will be used for the tournament, adhering to the same pattern that will be used for the Section VI and New York State Championships later this year.

Those interested are encouraged to contact the tournament director, Todd Langworthy, with any questions at 672-2695. Those participating are encouraged to wear their high school jersey.
