Ames Celebrates 18th Birthday In Style For Randolph
RANDOLPH — On her 18th birthday, Allison Ames drilled a 3-pointer with 2.4 seconds remaining to lift Randolph to a 56-53 victory over Silver Creek in a Division 1 East game.
“She started the game strong in the first quarter — she got us going — and she hit the important shot at the end,” Cardinals coach Shawn Huntington said.
Sydney Hvizdzak led Randolph (6-7, 2-2) with 31 points, four rebounds, two steals and two assists; and Ames chipped in 9 points, two assists and two rebounds.
The heroics by Hvizdzak and Ames spoiled a brilliant night by Silver Creek’s Abby Rice, who poured in 32 points, including 18 in the fourth quarter, to go along with five rebounds and four assists. The Black Knights trailed 44-29 after three periods, but rallied to tie the game late before Ames hit the game winner.
Kiera Brenna chipped in with 10 points and three rebounds in a losing cause.

EAGLES PREVAIL
ELLICOTTVILLE — Makenna Smith scored 21 points and Allison Rowland added 13 to pace Ellicottville to a 59-33 victory over North Collins in a Division 2 East game.
The Eagles broke the game open in the second quarter and led 30-18 at the break.
Katelyn Hofner led North Collins with 11 points.

PORTVILLE — Karly Welty scored 20 of her game-high 24 points in the first half to lead Portville to a 52-38 victory over Falconer in a Division 1 East game.
Welty also added seven steals, six rebounds and three assists; and Mallory Welty had 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.
The Lady Panthers (10-2, 4-1) raced to a 21-7 lead after the first quarter and increased it to 36-13 at intermission.
Courtnee Peterson paced Falconer (11-3, 4-2) with 11 points, and teammate Ava Fenton chipped in 9 points, six steals and six assists.
