John Swabik
Clymer/Sherman/Panama
John Swabik was named the Most Valuable Player as Clymer/Sherman/Panama won its second straight New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class D title with a 47-6 win over Section VII Moriah on Friday at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. Swabik ran for 39 yards on offense while defensively he had 11 tackles, one assist, and an interception.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Connor Bentham
Pine Valley
Connor Bentham scored 18 of his game-high 22 points in the first and third quarters as Pine Valley beat Cassadaga Valley 69-46 in season-opening action last Tuesday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Marley Drake
Jamestown
Freshman Marley Drake was named the Most Valuable Players as Jamestown won the United Way Tournament this past weekend at McElrath Gymnasium. Drake had 22 points and three assists in a first-round victory over Fredonia. On Saturday, in a championship game win over Frewsburg, Drake had 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals.
