Olson Tallies A Pair As Rebels Sweep Maryland

ODENTON, Md. — Captain Eric Olson scored a pair of goals as the Jamestown Rebels completed their first road weekend sweep of the season with a 3-1 win over the Maryland Black Bears in North American Hockey League East Division action Saturday.

Olson opened the scoring with his eight goal of the season just 19 seconds into the game with an assist from Nick Siffringer.

Maryland’s Mikhael Gonchar tied the game at the 17:41 mark of the second period with his first goal of the season from Luke Mountain before Olson’s second of the game from Lucas Wahlin gave the Rebels a 2-1 lead just over a minute later.

Spencer Cosway scored his second goal of the season at the 6:40 mark of the third period from Jordan Cormier to give the Rebels their final margin.

Noah West stopped 34 of 35 shots he faced for the win while Cooper Black took the loss with 29 saves on 32 shots.

Jamestown returns to action Friday and Saturday against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights at the Revolution Ice Centre.
