OSWEGO — Tom McFall (Class of 1990) joined the ranks of 120 other accomplished individuals who have been voted into SUNY Oswego’s Athletic Hall of Fame, forever solidifying themselves in the college’s athletic history.

An ice hockey team standout, McFall was recognized as a member of the 2019 Hall of Fame inductee class on Oct. 5 during an induction dinner and ceremony at SUNY Oswego. The Falconer resident was presented his award by former teammate Sean Fitzgerald, Class of 1989.

McFall remains the top-scoring defenseman in Laker men’s ice hockey program history. He registered 139 points over his career, coming on 21 goals and 118 assists. He has the most assists in a single season for a defenseman, with 38 during the 1986-87 campaign. Over his 123 games in a Laker uniform, McFall has the eighth most assists for any player in the program. McFall’s capabilities were honored three times by SUNYAC coaches, taking home All-SUNYAC Second Team honors as a sophomore and junior before first-team recognition as a senior.

He credited his parents — they supported three sons through collegiate hockey programs — for his success as well as family, coaches and teammates who shared the game with him.

“Oswego is very important to me,” McFall said. “I had a great group of guys who I played with. I was very fortunate to play with four of the top seven scorers of all time and one of the best goaltenders of all time.”

McFall is a teacher at Chautauqua Lake Central School.

“This year’s honorees represent some of the best athletes in Oswego State’s long athletic history,” said event organizer Stephanie Lamb, Class of 2007, senior associate director of alumni engagement. “We are honored to recognize them.”
