JHS Football Holds Awards Banquet

The Jamestown High School football program held its end-of-season banquet Monday. Several players were recognized for achievements this season. Chase Jones earned the Dewayne Vandework Coach Train Gridiron Heart Scholarship; Ben Schrader earned the Jeffrey Bloomquist Scholarship; Jonah Tonkin earned the Robert Pollino Scholarship; Schrader, Jonah Tonkin and Joshua Tonkin were Section VI Scholar Athletes; Takye Branch, Trey Drake, Jaylen Butera, Markell Carter, Jonah Tonkin, Joshua Tonkin, Savon Vansickle, Schrader, Xander Grey and Michael Houghton were NYSPHSAA Scholar Athletes; Bishop Slaughter and Joey Vangiesen received Red Team Defense Awards; Drake was the Underclassman of the Year; Dan O’Brien and Branch received Off-Season Awards; Joshua Tonkin received the Unsung Hero Award; Julian McGaughy, Carter Eganski and Simeon Leeper were named Co-Most Improved Players; Schrader received the Raider Pride Award; Drayce Garland received the Coaches Award; Jones was named Lineman of the Year; Andrew Dix as named Special Teams Player of the Year; Vansickle and Elijah Rojas were named Co-Offensive Players of the Year; DeMarri Jones and Garland were named Co-Defensive Players of the Year; and Butera was named Team Most Valuable Player.
