JCC Men Find Success On Road, Upend Butler CCC

BUTLER, Pa. — In the first of a three-game road trip, the Jamestown Community College men’s basketball team defeated Butler County CC, 85-73, in an NJCAA basketball game Wednesday evening.

The Jayhawks (5-4) were led offensively by Jordan Thomas who had a career-high 25 points on 12-of-16 shooting. Sheik Kourmora was the other Jamestown player who was able to crack double digit scoring. In all, the Jayhawks had 11 players find their way into the scoring column.

Thomas did his part on cleaning up the glass, grabbing eight rebounds, Donathan Daniels also had eight rebounds on the night. Kyle Butler has come into his own in running the Jayhawks’ offense, dishing out eight assists. This is Butler’s fourth game where he has had seven or more assists.

Jamir Carter led the offense for the Pioneers, having a game-high 29 points with Jacob Slomers adding 11 points. Dom Schmidt had 10 points, and Kaiden Young had a double-double for Butler, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists. The Jayhawks forced 22 turnovers.

The Jayhawks will be back in action next Friday, Dec.13, as they travel to Columbus State Community College for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
