Jayhawks Top Muskegon CC In Sanborn

SANBORN — Jamestown Community College ran its NJCAA wrestling record to 1-1 on the year with a 29-21 win over Muskegon Community College on Friday night at the Niagara County CC Duals.

The Jayhawks gave up losses via forfeit at 125, 133 and 197 pounds, but were able to recover thanks to a pin from Taige Jones in 6:12 at 149 pounds.

“That is Taige’s fifth win of the year and he has shown dramatic improvement throughout the season,” Jamestown CC head coach Kris Schimek said.

Dan Torres is now 17-3 on the year after a technical-fall victory at 174 pounds; Colten Studley won a 9-6 decision at 141 pounds; Joey Perry a 9-5 decision at 157 pounds; Seth McTavish claimed a win via injury default at 165 pounds; and Jesse Storch claimed a forfeit win for the Jayhawks at 184 pounds.

Max Wills lost a close 6-5 decision for Jamestown CC at 285 pounds.

The Jayhawks return to the mat today for the Niagara County CC Open, with wrestling starting at 9:30 a.m.
