SYRACUSE — Nine area teams find themselves in the New York Sportswriters Association football rankings this week.

Two of them — Southwestern and Franklinville/Ellicottville — are No. 2 in their respective classifications.

The Trojans will take on Cassadaga Valley/Falconer at 7 tonight at Charles A. Lawson Field in a Class C South matchup, while the Titans will travel to Salamanca for a Class D contest.

The other area ranked teams are Jamestown, No. 25 in Class AA; Clymer/Sherman/Panama, No. 4, and Randolph, No. 14, in Class D; and Portville, No. 16 in Class C. Clymer/Sherman/Panama will meet Randolph at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Clymer Central School.

Jamestown is one of five Class AA teams in the poll. Orchard Park, which plays the Red Raiders tonight at Strider Field, is No. 12, while Lancaster, Clarence and Niagara Falls are all honorable-mention selections.
