Rebels Top Maryland Saturday

A pair of second-period goals helped the Jamestown Rebels take control of a 3-1 North American Hockey League East Division victory over the Maryland Black Bears on Saturday night at Northwest Arena.

Valentino Passarelli scored his second goal of the season from Noah Finstrom and Seth Bergeron with the Rebels short-handed at the 6:38 mark of the second period.

Just over four minutes later, Valerii Rykov made it 2-0 with his second goal of the season from Passarelli and Liam Hansson.

Finstrom scored his fourth goal of the season from Marshall Walker and Nate Clark at the 7:27 mark of the third period to make it 3-0.

Maryland broke up the shutout at the 14:30 mark of the final period when Aidan McDowell scored his third goal of the season on the power play from Filip Jakobsson and Wilmer Skoog.

Jon Howe stopped 43 of 44 shots he faced to earn the win in net for Jamestown (3-9-0-2) while Andrew Takacs made 35 saves for the Black Bears (5-7-0-0).

The Rebels return to action with a two-game series Friday and Saturday against the New Jersey Titans at Middletown Ice World Arena before returning to Northwest Arena Nov. 1-2 for two games against the Maine Nordiques.
