Jamestown CC Claims 17th Straight Volleyball Victory
NORTH EAST, Pa. — The Jamestown Community College women’s volleyball team continues to prove worthy of its ranking.
Behind four aces, 15 kills, 13 digs and two blocks by Jenna Caskey, the Jayhawks, ranked seventh in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, won their 17th match in a row, downing Mercyhurst North East, 25-15, 25-23, 25-16, on Tuesday.
The win improves Jamestown CC’s record to 19-4 on the season with five outings remaining.
“We played the best we’ve played all year,” Jayhawks coach Ashley Lund said. “We were doing everything right. Everything came to life tonight.”
Maddy Russo added 24 assists and nine digs; Cameryn Hawkins, who was named the Region 3 volleyball athlete of the week, collected three aces and 18 digs; and Alexys Marsh contributed one ace, one assist, seven kills, four digs and two blocks.
Jamestown CC returns to action Oct. 17 when it entertains the Pitt-Bradford junior varsity for its final home match of the season.
