John Gren Jr. and Matt Spunaugle led the way as Arthur R. Gren opened its season with a pair of wins during the inaugural week of the Northwest Arena Backyard Curling Leagues sponsored by Dot’s Gift Boutique.

Arthur R. Gren beat Pepsi Zeros 27-23 and Close Enough 31-25.

Marty Richau and Amy Thompson led the way as All Curled Up also went 2-0, beating Golfers On Ice 36-33 and The Brush Offs 26-23.

In other Wednesday 5:30 league action, the Trojan Curlers knocked off Golfers On Ice 46-19 with Brian Devine leading the way; and Kyle Rahr threw the deciding stone in the last end as the Brush Offs topped the Trojan Curlers 28-27. Matt Misiaszek led Close Enough to a 26-23 win over Stone Cold Curlers while Matt Eckstrom led Pepsi Zeros to a 31-28 win over Stone Cold Curlers. Matt Mancuso and Brian Franklin were the top players for the Stone Cold Curlers.

Conewango Curlers put together an 85-point night in a pair of wins, 36-27 over Games of Stones and 49-24 over Slippery Rocks in Wednesday 6:30 league play. Peter Beck and Emma Abplanalp led the way for Conewango Curlers.

Neil’s Propane also went 2-0 with a 42-32 win over TRCurlers and 30-24 over Swedish Meatballs. Eric Scolton led the way for Neil’s Propane.

Dan Davis led the way for Dot’s Gift Boutique in a 27-23 win over Slippery Rocks.

Chris Rodgers and Reid VanEvery led Games of Stones to a 25-16 victory over Dot’s Gift Boutique.

Katie Conner led Swedish Meatballs to a 37-21 win over the Hackers and Beth Jermain led TRCurlers to a 38-25 victory over the Hackers.

Doug Grubbs and Ethan Rapp helped Cliff and the Baby Broomers jump out to a pair of wins on opening night, 41-37 over Scuba Crew and 41-32 over Frozen Assets in the Monday 5:30 league.

Legion of Broom also started 2-0 with a 44-25 win over Fruit of the Brooms and a 23-22 victory over the Arena’s Best behind the play of Cecil Miller and Todd Frangione.

Scuba Crew, led by Jack Twiham; Frozen Assets, led by Rachel Hasson; and Shoeless Joe’s, led by Joe Jackson, all went 1-1 on the evening. Winless Fruit of the Brooms was led by Spencer Cosway.

Short and Curly combined for 70 points in a 39-36 victory over Merrill Lynch Cirls and a 31-26 win over Game of Stones, led by Jeff Seely.

Nick Lucas led the Ice Holers to a pair of wins.

Bethany Bushey and Kim Barber led Merrill Lynch Cirls to a 1-1 evening. The Jamestown Hammers were also 1-1 behind Sumner Darr and Jenny Rader while Nikki Hinderliter and Jeff Piazza led Snow Balls and Game of Stones, respectively.

Sam Lisciandro led Mary’s Smooth Red Curlers while Tim Black led Making Curling Great Again.
