Rebels Fall In Shootout

BLAINE, Minn. — After losing their first two games in regulation — the second with just three seconds remaining — the Jamestown Rebels finally got a point Friday, but still came up on the losing end.

After being tied 3-3 through regulation and overtime, the Rebels lost in a shootout to the Kenai River Brown Bears.

Jamestown’s Nick Siffringer was stopped to open the shootout before Kenai River’s Brandon Lajoie beat Rebels goaltender Jon Howe. The Rebels’ Matt Hubbarde and the Brown Bears’ Max Helgeson were stopped in the second round of the shootout before Kenai River goaltender Landon Pavlisin stopped Zach Brydges for the win.

Jamestown (0-2-0-1) took a 1-0 lead late in the first period as Nate Clark scored his first of the year from Brydges and Siffringer, but Kenai River answered less than a minute later as Steward Pond scored from Preston Weeks and Lajoie.

The Brown Bears (1-0-1-1) made it 2-1 early in the second period on an Eric Olson goal.

Jamestown responded with a pair of goals, the first being Eric Olson’s first of the year from Jack Moore and Matt Stoia. Twelve minutes later, Clark scored his second of the game from Olson.

The Rebels held a 3-2 lead through most of the third period, but with 16 seconds remaining, JJ Boucher scored his first of the season from Zach Krajnik and Porter Schachle to send the game to overtime.

Howe made 28 saves for Jamestown and Pavlisin made 24 for Kenai River.
