Randolph Lions Club Hosts 16th Annual Golf Tournament

RANDOLPH — With a field of 116 golfers, the 16th annual Lions Club golf tournament was held last week and $13,000 was raised.

Donations contributed by local businesses and individuals included key sponsors Colecraft Commercial Furnishings, Bush Industries, Shults Auto Group, Traditional Casket, Hartley Buick, Smith Burial Services, Fenton Mobility Products, Bob and Millie Matson and Lynn Development.

Members of the Randolph Lions Club showed up early to prepare food and feed the participants lunch before the shotgun start. The winners of this year’s tournament for the men’s group were: Chris and Paul Secky, and Bill Bernard and Scott Crist. Winners of the mixed group were Jake and Patti Searle, and Dave and Sue Emley.

Following the tournament, a buffet was served by Cardinal Hills. Concluding the event was an auction, led by Robert Matson, which raised $1,985. Items auctioned off included three Buffalo Bills parties for 20 people donated by MJs, The Hideaway and Cardinal Hill Golf Course; a Hollyloft kids bike; PGA Tour posters, donated by Michael Seiberg; and 200 pounds of angus burger, donated by Angus Hill Farms. Bruce and Rosemary Gillan manned a hole-in-one contest, sponsored by Shults Auto Group, which raised $440.

This event is the Lions Club’s biggest fundraiser each year. The generosity of everyone involved allows the club to assist local families with eyeglasses and medical bills. This year alone, $2,357 was spent on eyeglasses, $4,400 on gas cards and medical expenses, and $4,000 on scholarships. This does not include money raised on the biannual spaghetti dinners for specific recipients.
