MG Teams Shine At Knox Invite; Cards’ McDonald Claims Title

EAST AURORA — The Maple Grove boys cross country team took home first place in the small school race at the Knox Invitational on Saturday, finishing with 139 points while Southwestern had 143, Falconer 152, Randolph 391, Fredonia 428, Frewsburg 501, Clymer/Sherman/Panama 619, Franklinville 671 and Silver Creek 747.

The Lady Red Dragons claimed second in the girls small school standings, finishing with 95 points while Newfane took home the title with 60.

Clymer/Sherman/Panama had 132 points, Silver Creek 269, Falconer 327, Dunkirk 377, Fredonia 422, Southwestern 466, Randolph 511, Frewsburg 562 and Franklinville 593.

Ronan McDonald claimed the boys small school race for Randolph with a time of 16:24.78 while Southwestern’s Eddie Scroxton took eighth (17:09.37), Maple Grove’s Pete Auer 13th (17:18.07) and Falconer’s Bryce Baglia 18th (17:27.88).

Ava Crist had the high finish for Maple Grove in the girls small school race, taking fifth with a time of 19:58.24.

Kylee Odell finished in seventh for Clymer/Sherman/Panama (20:15.64), Acacia Barber eighth for Frewsburg (20:21.87), Abby Brunenavs 13th for Maple Grove (20:55.29) and Christina Peppy 15th for Maple Grove (20:59.39).

Host East Aurora took home the girls large school title with 55 points while Jamestown had 556.

Mivette Clavijo led the Red Raiders in that race with a time of 24:26.57.

East Aurora also claimed the boys large school title with 94 points while Jamestown had 488.

Drew Carlson led the Red Raiders with a 20th-place finish in 17:15.45.
