Frewsburg Edges Jamestown, 3-2, In CCAA Tennis Action

FREWSBURG — Frewsburg (2-4, 1-2) was able to squeak out a 3-2 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association East Division tennis win over Jamestown (0-3, 0-2) on Tuesday at the Robert H. Jackson Sports Complex.

Samantha Burkett led the winners at third singles, taking home a 7-5, 3-6, 6-0 win over Madison Smith.

DRAGONS EDGE T’BIRDS

MAYVILLE — In a well played match, Maple Grove edged Chautauqua Lake, 3-2.

The deciding match was between Emily Bauer and Jenna Hayes at first singles. The match was close all the way through, but Hayes pulled out the victory, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-4.

Maple Grove also took the other two single matches. Emma Collins defeated Logan Walzcak, 6-2, 6-3, and Ryann Hayes defeated Elizabeth Marshaus, 7-5, 6-2.

Chautauqua Lake took both doubles matches. The first doubles team of Kira Erikson and Elise Riedesel defeated Allison McCall and Emily Shick, 6-1, 6-0. The second doubles team of Abby Paulus and Naomi Fisher defeated Abby Newman and Paige Dalrymple, 6-1, 6-0.

Chautauqua Lake is now. 2-2 overall and 0-1 in league.
