Fosberg Turns In Fine Effort For SWCS

Natalie Fosberg missed a state-qualifying time in the 50-yard freestyle by just three-hundredths of a second as Southwestern topped Panama/Clymer/Maple Grove, 110-75, in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association swimming and diving Thursday.

Fosberg was a double winner for the Trojans, taking the 50-yard freestyle in 24.87 and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.45.

Grace Wood also won a pair of events for Southwestern, capturing the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.74) and 500-yard freestyle (5:32.72) while Teagan Shedd claimed the 200-yard individual medley (2:27.62) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.23).

FREWSBURG — A first- and second-place finish in the final relay of the night allowed Frewsburg/Falconer to forge a 93-93 tie with Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville.

Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville’s Tori Spacciapolli was the lone double winner on the evening, taking first in the 200-meter individual medley (2:35.74) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:18.85).

RASHA, WARRIORS BEAT GOWANDA

SALAMANCA — Jayla Rasha was a double winner to lead Salamanca past Gowanda, 96-74.

Rasha won the 50-yard freestyle (29.21) and 100-yard freestyle (1:07.67) for the Warriors. Jem Yarbour qualified for the Section VI Class C meet with her second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle as did Jordan Ray while winning the 200-yard freestyle (2:38.45).

Gowanda’s Tia Moppert was also a double winner, taking the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.68) and 100-yard backstroke (1:13.06).
