Cummins, Matco Lead 32nd Battle Heading Into Final Days Of Events

Cummins (990) and Matco Tools (903) lead the competition in the 32nd annual YMCA Battle of the Businesses in the Large and Small Divisions after the team dodgeball and 8-ball pool events.

In dodgeball, JBA/City Court took the first-place win over runnerup Jamestown Up Close for the Small Division at the Lakewood YMCA. GA Family Services at Lutheran finished in third place.

Large Division dodgeball action, Falconer Central Schools conquered Cummins for the 100-point win. Jamestown BPU placed third.

At The Chadakoin Club for the 8-ball pool tournament, SKF Aeroengine’s duo of Rick Luce and Jeff Park ran the table for the Large Division beating second-place finishers Robert Torres and Gery Maull of Bush Industries. Sunn Ryder and Rob Culpepper of Cummins seized third place.

Today’s events will consist of three events (Scrabble, basketball skills competition and Texas Hold’em poker tournament) presented at the Lakewood YMCA.

The Scrabble tournament will take place in the YMCA preschool room starting at 6 p.m. for both divisions.

The basketball skills competition will be held on the Lakewood YMCA soccer field with the Large Division starting at 6 p.m. and the Small Division starting at 7:30 p.m.

The Texas Hold’em poker tournament, a new event this year, will be hosted in the YMCA babysitting room at the Lakewood YMCA with both divisions at 6 p.m.

The Battle is hosted by the Jamestown Area YMCA and sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union and Eventz by Scott.
