Jayhawks Volleyball, Soccer Teams Begin Seasons Later This Month

Jamestown Community College will get its fall athletics schedule underway when the men’s and women’s soccer teams host North Country CC on Saturday, Aug. 24.
The women will get things going with a 1 p.m. kickoff against the Saints followed by the men at 3 p.m. A day later, both teams will host Clinton CC with the women’s game starting at 11 a.m. followed by the men at 1 p.m.
The Jayhawks volleyball team, which won the WNYAC Tournament and advanced to the NJCAA Division III national tournament for the second straight season with a Region 3B title last year, will open its season Friday, Aug. 30 against Columbus State CC at Owens CC in Perrysburg, Ohio. The following day Jamestown CC will take on Erie CC at the Owens Tournament.
The Jayhawks women’s and men’s soccer teams will host Lackawanna College at 1 and 3 p.m., respectively, on Monday, Sept. 2 before their first true road tests of the season Saturday, Sept. 7 at Mohawk Valley CC.
The Jayhawks volleyball team will travel to Niagara County CC for a matchup with the Thunderwolves on Thursday, Sept. 5 before local fans get their first chance to see the Jayhawks at home on Tuesday, Sept. 10 against Genesee CC and Thursday, Sept. 12 against Mercyhurst North East. Both of those matchups will start at 6 p.m.

Jamestown CC’s volleyball team will then go on the road for nearly three weeks with the Niagara County CC Pod on Sunday, Sept. 15, the North Country CC Pod on Saturday, Sept. 21 and the Finger Lakes CC Pod on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The Jayhawks volleyball team will then host Monroe CC on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The final regular-season home showcase of the Jayhawks will be at their own Pod on Saturday, Oct. 19 against Jefferson CC, Onondaga CC and Cayuga CC.
Other home dates for the men’s and women’s soccer teams will be Wednesday, Sept. 11 against Mercyhurst North East; Sunday, Sept. 15 against Hudson Valley CC; Wednesday, Sept. 18 against Finger Lakes CC; Sunday, Sept. 22 against Lorain County CC; Saturday, Sept. 28 against Tompkins Cortland CC; and Saturday, Oct. 5 against Fulton-Montgomery CC.
Both teams will close their regular seasons with three straight road games, Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Erie CC; Saturday, Oct. 12 at SUNY Broome; and Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Niagara County CC.
NOTES: The men’s soccer team will scrimmage at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. while the volleyball team will scrimmage at the Pitt-Bradford on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 6 p.m.
