Bonnies Add Transfer From Miami (Ohio)

ST. BONAVENTURE — St. Bonaventure University men’s basketball head coach Mark Schmidt has announced the addition of Jalen Adaway to the Bonnies’ program. Adaway, a 6-5 guard, is a transfer from Miami (Ohio) University. He will sit out the 2019-20 season due to NCAA transfer rules before having two years of remaining eligibility.

Adaway appeared in 63 games including 46 starts over the past two years for the RedHawks. A product of Logansport, Indiana, he averaged 8.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in 26.8 minutes per game during his first two collegiate seasons. This past year, he started 29 of 32 games and shot nearly 49 percent from the floor.

“We are happy to welcome Jalen to St. Bonaventure and really glad he’s decided to join our program,” Schmidt said. “This year, he will add a competitive edge to our practices while working on his own game. We believe he will be ready and able to help us the following season. He was a productive player at Miami and we think he’s really just scratched the surface of his potential.”

A four-year letterwinner for Logansport High School, he averaged 15.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.5 blocks per game as a senior while leading his squad to a 23-2 record and the school’s first conference title in four decades. Named to the Indiana Large School All-State Team by the Indy Star following his senior year, Adaway poured in 1,444 points during his high school career. He also competed in the 2017 American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk Championship at the Final Four.
