3-on-3 Tournament Held Over Weekend

The inaugural Big Pitt’s BBQ Block Party and 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a collaboration with #IntegrityFirst Inc. and the Jamestown Jackals, was held this weekend in Jamestown.

Twenty-three teams laced up their sneakers to compete in 56 games in Chadakoin Park. Throughout the weekend Big Pitt’s BBQ was selling ribs, chicken, pulled pork and a variety of sides. There was bounce houses and face painting for the younger community members on Saturday and Sunday.

The Rev. Reggie Smith from Blackwell Chapel AME Zion Church shared a service in the park Sunday morning.

The Puppies Division (7-10 Division) was won by Phonezone, comprised of JHensen Cordero, Blake Swanson, Giovannie Jackson and Andre Graham. The championship game went into double overtime against Lil Blue Chips (Amari Mcgaughy, Jvion Barr, Julian Jackson, and Jalen Edward).

The Pups Division (11-14), the largest bracket of the tournament, was won by the unbeaten Detroit Bad Boys (6-0), which was comprised of Samuel Arrington, Eric Reese, Darius Freeney and Carter Roggenbaum.

The Junior Pups Division (15-18) was won by JHS Hoopers, comprised of Andre Maple, Jaral Farmer, Jaquez Thomas and O’Zion Rosario Kinney.

The final “Old Dogs Division” (18-and-over) was a small bracket on Saturday-only with undefeated My Park (3-0), comprised of Brad Johnson, Xavier Churnac, Jordan Thomas and Devin Hicks.

Madyson Greenawalt was the recipient of the sportsmanship award.
