Jamestown Community Baseball, LLC and the Secrets of Champions Foundation have reached agreement with Jordan Basile to be the new field manager for the Jamestown Jammers as they re-enter play in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League next season.

An official signing ceremony will take place at Diethrick Park at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Basile, a native of Jamestown and a graduate of Jamestown High School, was a standout baseball player at SUNY Fredonia and later served as assistant coach at his alma mater. He worked in player development for the Detroit Tigers during the 2011 season before securing a position as assistant coach for the University at Buffalo. While completing work on his MBA, he was assistant coach at Lake Erie College, and is currently the head baseball coach at Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville, Virginia. He serves as an advisor to USA Baseball and is credentialed as a Certified Secrets of Champions integrated performance coach.

“I could not be more honored to have been chosen for this position,” said Basile in a written statement. “And, coming back to Jamestown is an incredible bonus. The ownership group here has put together something very special. Our goal is to make Jamestown a player development destination and it will happen because what we have with Secrets of Champions, no one else in the world has. We are all looking forward to getting to work.”

Dr. George Carlo, a board member of Jamestown Community Baseball LLC and chairman of the Secrets of Champions Foundation, has worked with Basile since they both were with the Tigers and noted that, “I know of no better baseball man.”

“The Jammer fans are in for a treat,” Carlo said in a press release.

Basile’s immediate order of business will be directing the inaugural Secrets of Champions Foundation-Jamestown Jammers baseball development clinics, to be held Aug. 12-15. The four-day clinic series includes a special course for coaches of all levels, comprehensive skills and performance clinics for both age 18-and-under and 12-and-under players, a continuity orientation for parents, as well as a day for athletes with disabilities.
