The Jamestown 9U Cal Ripken All-Stars finished as the runnerup in the 2019 state tournament last weekend in Elmira. Jamestown defeated the North Tonawanda Americans, 2-1, in the semifinals behind a fantastic pitching performance by Ryan Engquist, who pitched 5 1/3 innings striking out eight and surrendering only three hits. Jhensen Cordero got the final two outs. Blake Swanson singled and scored both Jamestown runs. Jamestown came up short in the final to a great Elmira team, losing 13-3.
