Spitz Headed To Allegheny College

Flanked by her parents Deanna and Tim, and sister Lindsey, Jamestown High School senior Emily Spitz, seated second from left, signs a letter of intent to continue her academic and swimming career at Allegheny College in the fall. Emily, who has been a member of the JHS varsity swim team, plans to study biochemistry while at Allegheny with the goal of working in medicine. “Allegheny College will gain a workhorse next season with the addition of Emily Spitz to the women’s swim team,” said JHS swim coach Glen Shoup. “Emily has been a major team contributor and captain with Jamestown High School swimming and will no doubt help her new team find success in the pool. As her coach, I am very excited to see her decide to continue to train and compete as a Gator and wish her all the best.” In addition to being a member of the JHS swim team, Emily has been a member of the National Honor Society, junior varsity and varsity softball teams, concert band, A Cappella Choir, Madrigal Singers and Key Club while at JHS. Emily is also the salutatorian of the Class of 2019. “I am very excited to have the opportunity to continue my swimming career at Allegheny,” said Emily. “The coaches are dedicated to our success and they really care about us as students and athletes. I know I will receive a great education as well.” Also joining Emily for the signing are, standing from the left, assistant coach Mitchell Simons, Shoup and JHS athletic director Ben Drake.
