Wolfpack’s Swabik Wins CCAA Pentathlon Title
Dragons’ Mozzi Second For Girls; Randolph’s McDonald, Fredonia’s Brown Capture Steeplechase Victories
RANDOLPH — John Swabik of Clymer/Sherman/Panama finished the day with a school-record 3,286 points to take home the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association boys pentathlon title. Swabik clocked a 4:27.6 in the 1,500 meters, a 16.4 in the 110-meter hurdles, jumped 1.9 meters in the high jump, 6 meters in the long jump and threw the shot put 11.28 meters.
Carson Crist of Maple Grove took home the long jump with a mark of 6.06 meters to finish in third with 2,963 points.
Ronan McDonald took home the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the hosts in a time of 10:11.4.
In the girls 2,000-meter steeplechase Emily Brown crossed the line first in a time of 7:19.2. Clymer/Sherman/Panama’s Kylee Odell was third in a school-record 7:45.8.
Genevieve Arnold of Orchard Park finished the day with 2,413 points to take home the girls pentathlon title while Maple Grove’s Bryn Mozzi took second with 2,273.
Mozzi was victorious in the high jump (1.43) while Logan Fredrickson of Franklinville/Ellicottville/West Valley claimed the 800 meters in 2:33.5 to finish in third place overall.
Kayla Allen of Southwestern claimed the shot put (7.58) and finished in fourth. Franklinville/Ellicottville/West Valley’s Hayly Fredrickson finished second in both the 800 meters and long jump to take fifth place overall.

LANCASTER — Giovana Calamunci took home the 100-meter hurdles at the Western New York Girls Track Classic on Saturday.
The junior clocked a 16.72 in preliminaries and ended up with a 16.84 in the finals, ahead of Madelyn Kruszka of Hamburg (16.97).
