Trojans Suffer Softball Setback

Silver Creek improved to 5-8 overall with a 9-7 win over Southwestern (7-11, 4-7) in CCAA Division 1 West Softball.

Julia Hill pitched the winners through all seven innings, striking out 10 batters and also adding two singles. Alycia Langan ripped a double and Jade Bouvier two singles in the win.

Sofia Genareo led the Trojans through five innings, hurling seven strikeouts and issuing five walks while Ashton Beckerink walked a pair of batters in relief.

Erin Radack was 3 for 4, cracking two triples and a double for two RBIs for the Lady Trojans while Kylee Dibble went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs.

CARDINALS WIN PAIR

RANDOLPH — Randolph is now 11-6 overall and 7-2 against CCAA Division 2 East opponents after wins of 4-3 and 5-0 over Franklinville (0-12, 0-10).

Abby Mansfield earned a pair of wins in the circle, striking out four, walking two and giving up five hits in Game 1 before tossing a one-hitter with three strikeouts in Game 2.

Mya Abrams ripped three singles, Brynn Pagett a single and a double, Mansfield two singles and Kendall Steward a triple to lead the Cardinals’ offense in the first contest, while Tarryn Herman walked two and struck out one in the circle for Franklinville.

In Game 2, Abrams ripped two singles, Pagett a triple and Kyra Pence a double.

Tawnie Bowers gave up six hits, one walk and struck out two for Franklinville in the second contest.

PORTVILLE PREVAILS

Portville (11-5, 7-2) was a 17-4 winner over Cattaraugus-Little Valley (7-10, 3-5) in CCAA Division 1 East action with Brooke DeYoe leading the way with seven strikeouts, three walks and seven hits in the circle.

DeYoe added two singles and three RBIs; Sierra Keim was 2 for 4 with a double, home run, six RBIs and two stolen bases; Faith Capito was 2 for 4 with two RBIs; while Olivia Emley was also 2 for 4 to pace the winners.

Lexi Mikowicz, Emma Rupp, and Becca Ulinger all shared pitching duties for the Timberwolves while Rupp, Alexis Wulf and Lauren Eaton were all 2 for 4 at the plate.

BURICK SPARKS

SHERMAN

SHERMAN — Host Sherman (2-12) was able to use a Denali Burick double in the sixth inning on its way to a 9-7 win over Westfield (3-9, 3-8) in CCAA Division 2 West play.

Rowan Fisher led the winners in the circle with five strikeouts and six walks, while Kayla Yokum also ripped a double.

Tanleigh Bestine fanned 10 for Westfield, while Haleigh Dellow led the visitors on offense, going 4 for 4 with a triple.

SWANSON SHINES

AGAIN FOR DRAGONS

BROCTON — Elise Swanson smacked three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in two runs to spark Maple Grove to a 4-2 victory over Brocton in a Division 2 West game.

Clare Crossley (double) and Kelsey Tarbrake added two hits apiece in support of winning pitcher Lynne Nordin, who scattered eight hits, struck out five and didn’t issue a walk.

Jenelle Grigelevich and Annalise Wdowiasz both had two hits for the Lady Bulldogs. Losing pitcher Megan Gloss struck out nine and walked two.

JHS FALLS TO QUAKERS

Orchard Park scored six runs in the third inning and rolled to a 17-2 victory over Jamestown in Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 action.

Olivia Gates had two hits for the Lady Red Raiders.

T’BIRDS ROLL

SINCLAIRVILLE — Cianna Braymiller collected four hits, including a double, and drove in three runs to spark Chautauqua Lake to an 11-4 victory over Cassadaga Valley in a Division 1 West softball game.

Katelyn Fardink added three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs, and Chadelynn Johnson chipped in two hits, one a triple, in support of winning pitcher Olivia Anderson. The right-hander tossed a two-hitter and struck out eight.

Kristen DeBicki and Olivia Bishop each had a single for the Lady Cougars.
