Six Jayhawks Recognized As WNYAC All-Stars

Six Jamestown Community College baseball players were recognized by the Western New York Athletic Conference as First- and Second-Team All-Stars.

Freshman third baseman Roberto Aracena, freshman center fielder Paul Tripi and sophomore shortstop Carlo Rodriguez were named to the First Team while sophomore right fielder Caleb Caldwell, sophomore pitcher Braiden Blair and freshman pitcher Evan Harrison were selected to the Second Team.

Aracena is a 6-foot-2 third baseman from Miami, who had a batting average of .395 in 26 games for the Jayhawks. He was the team’s top hitter with 30 hits in 76 at-bats and a slugging percentage of .513. Aracena recorded three doubles and three triples at the plate while driving in a team-high 23 runs and stealing seven bases.

Tripi is a 5-foot-7 center fielder from Cheektowaga, who had a batting average of .353 in 27 games for the Jayhawks. He had 30 hits in 85 at-bats and a slugging percentage of .435. Tripi recorded three doubles and two triples at the plate while driving in 12 runs and stealing a team-high 12 bases.

Rodriguez is a 5-foot-9 shortstop from Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, who had a batting average of .354 in 27 games for the Jayhawks. He had 28 hits in 79 at-bats and a slugging percentage of .430. Rodriguez had two doubles and a home run at the plate while scoring a team-high 19 runs and driving in eight.

Caldwell is a 6-foot-2 right fielder from Frewsburg, who had a batting average of .267 in 27 games for the Jayhawks. He had 20 hits in 75 at-bats and a slugging percentage of .373. Caldwell had two doubles and two home runs at the plate while driving in 13 runs. In 28 1/3 innings on the mound, Caldwell went 2-5 with 21 strikeouts.

Blair is a 6-foot-2 pitcher from Warren, Pennsylvania, who had a batting average of .281 in 26 games for the Jayhawks. He had 16 hits in 57 at-bats and a slugging percentage of .386. Blair had six doubles at the plate and drove in eight runs. In 40ª innings on the mound, Blair went 1-3 with a save and struck out 22.

Harrison is a 6-foot pitcher from Ontario, Canada, who had a batting average of .255 in 21 games for the Jayhawks. He had 12 hits in 47 at-bats and a slugging percentage of .298. Harrison had two doubles at the plate and drove in six runs. In a team-high 49ª innings on the mound, Harrison went 3-5 with four complete games. He struck out a team-high 35.
