Jamestown Holds Off Bears, 5-4

Jamestown took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning and hung on for a 5-4 nonleague baseball win over Frewsburg on Tuesday evening at Diethrick Park.

Bryce Jackson and Peyton Olson hit back-to-back triples to give the Red Raiders a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Jayden Schultz then walked before an error on a fly ball to left field turned into two more runs for Jamestown.

The Red Raiders (6-11) made it 5-1 in the sixth inning as Brennan Roehmholdt walked and went to third on a bad pickoff play before scoring on a Matthew Roehmholdt squeeze bunt.

Drew Boggs threw 6-plus innings for the Red Raiders, striking out three and walking six, but ran into trouble in the seventh.

Caleb Carr and Jack Yost walked to open the inning before Josh Loomis came on in relief. Aaron Hair greeted him with an RBI single to left field to make it 5-2. Nick Marsh then singled to center field to load the bases ahead of a Nolan Brink sacrifice fly. With two outs in a 5-3 game, Jason Dustin singled to left field to plate Hair, but Olson threw home and caught Marsh in a rundown before Jackson tagged him for the final out of the game.

The Red Raiders took a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Peyton Olson led off with a single and eventually scored on a Brennan Roehmholdt squeeze bunt.

In the Bears’ third inning, Carr walked, Yost reached on an error and Hair walked before Carr scored on a two-out wild pitch.

Hair and Dustin each had two hits for Frewsburg (11-7) while Ryan Schrecengost and Marsh split time on the mound, combining for six strikeouts and two walks.

CARDINALS PREVAIL

WESTFIELD — Mason Pagett went 2 for 4 with a run scored as Randolph topped Westfield, 9-3, in nonleague action.

Ashton Bushey pitched four innings to earn the win before Pagett pitched in relief.

The Wolverines led 2-0 in the fourth inning, but the Cardinals scored four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good.

Dylan Scriven struck out four for Westfield.
