Jamestown Athletes Shine At ECIC Meet

HAMBURG — Giovana Calamunci had a strong showing for Jamestown at the Erie County Interscholastic Conference Track and Field Championships at Hamburg High School on Friday.

The junior finished second in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.87, just behind Julia Peinkofer of Iroquois (15.84). The pair will square off in today’s final.

The Red Raiders’ Gavin Bowen took home the shot put portion of the pentathlon with a throw of 11.99 meters. Bowen finished third in the 110-meter hurdles finals of the pentathlon, clocking a 17.29, and tied for fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.59 meters.

Jamestown’s 400-meter relay team of Fran Rodriguez, Jaiden McKoy, Harrison Monfort and Grant Moore finished eighth in prelims with a time of 45.34. Monfort has also qualified for the finals of today’s 400-meter dash as he sits in 14th with a 53.08.

Morgan Tracy took seventh in the finals of the girls discus, hurling 96 feet, 11 inches.
